PILGRIM ICON VISITS SACRED HEART OF JESUS PARISH

Our local Knights of Columbus Council #13641 has the privilege of hosting the Pilgrim Icon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from June 5th to June 14th. Every few years, the Knights of Columbus select a sacred image to travel from council to council, serving as the focus of prayer in parishes around the world. Since the program began in 1979, more than 191,000 prayer services with over 23 million participants have taken place. The current icon features the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, based on the well-known 1767 painting by Pompeo Batoni, venerated in the Church of the Gesù in Rome. This reproduction bears the blessing of Pope Francis and is one of more than 300 icons traveling worldwide. This program seeks to deepen devotion onto the Sacred Heart of Jesus. During the time the Icon is with us, we are inspired to pray that our hearts become more like his and to learn how to care for others in the way Christ does.

While the icon is present, the Knights of Columbus will host a Sacred Heart Hour. More details to come. All are welcome to spend time in prayer before this venerated image.
