Invitation to Experts – Augustine Term at Sacred Heart Academy (August 2026)

This upcoming August, Sacred Heart Academy will open the school year with hands-on experiences for our Upper School Students (7th-12th Grades). We are looking for experts or enthusiasts in a variety of fields from within our parish to help lead and teach our Upper School Students for a day or two during the opening week of the school year, August 25th – August 28th. Students would choose an elective for a one day or two day course where one or two instructors (or more) would provide hands-on or “real life” experiences that are difficult to encounter within the confines of a normal school day. Examples of topics we are hoping to provide for our students:

•Outdoor skills, camping, fire building, orienteering, etc.
•Hunters safety, firearm safety and maintenance, firearm training
•Kayaking and/or canoeing, boating safety and skills
•Food preparation and cooking skills
•Art opportunities beyond the classroom, museum visits
•Drama skills
•Self-defense training and awareness
•Carpentry
•Husbandry
•Auto Repair and Maintenance
•Marketing/graphic design
•CPR

These are just examples and are not a complete list. We are open to a variety of potential ideas that we have not thought to provide to our students. If you are interested in serving Sacred Heart Academy for a day or two (or more) during the first week of the school year by providing leadership in an area of your interest or expertise, please contact Peter DeWitt at pdewitt@shgr.org.
