Peter F. Secchia Memorial Organ Dedication at Sacred Heart – March 25

On Wednesday, March 25th, the Feast of the Annunciation, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish in Grand Rapids, MI will celebrate the dedication of the Peter F. Secchia Memorial Organ, a brand new 39-rank pipe organ built by the internationally renowned builder Fratelli Ruffatti of Padua, Italy.

Sacred Heart’s Director of Sacred Music, Mr. Jonathan Bading, will give the dedication recital at 5:30pm, featuring the music of DeGrigny, Frescobaldi, Bach, Tournemire, and Alain. The Aquinas College Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Kelly Ford, will then sing the 7pm Mass, featuring Haydn’s Kleine Orgelmesse

The organ is a gift from the Secchia family in memory of the Honorable Peter F. Secchia (1937-2020), who served as U.S. Ambassador to Italy and San Marino from 1989-1993. This is the first Italian organ built within Michigan.
