ANDREW WILLARD JONES teaches history and political theory at both Franciscan University of Steubenville and the College of St. Joseph the Worker, where he also serves as the Academic Dean. He is a founding editor of New Polity, a journal and research institute dedicated to re-articulating Catholic Social Teaching for our era. Dr. Jones earned his Bachelor’s Degree in history from Hillsdale College and his PhD, likewise in history, from St. Louis University. His research interests include historical political theology, political theory, and Catholic Social Teaching. He has published three books: Before Church and State: A Study of Social Order in the Sacramental Kingdom of St. Louis IX, The Two Cities: A History of Christian Politics, and most recently: The Church Against the State: On Subsidiarity and Sovereignty. Dr. Jones is known for several popular podcast series on various aspects of political theory, especially the politics of tyranny and of paganism. He lives with his large family in Steubenville, Ohio where he is very involved in efforts to build a vibrant community of Catholic families and a healthy civic life.
